Welcome Everyone to my new web page, written in Word Press code.

I just realized that I have been building Harps, And websites for a looong time !  My first web site was in 1993, written with AOL Press,.. 21 years ago ! But I started building harps back in 1978, which is 36 years ago !:-)

So, just click on this link to get to my new site. It is still under construction on some of the 39 pages, with many more images and videos to be added.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think !

I will be at the Southeastern Harp Weekend, on Oct  23rd through the 27th in Ashville North Carolina, showing a brand new custom carved Myrtle wood 36 string nylon harp.

This weekend !! :-)

This harp is carved with angels in flight, a crescent moon with a semiprecious stone set inside it, crystals, gold leaf, painted and carved feathers and also it sounds really, really GOOD ! :-)  Come and see me and my lovely wife Laurie, of Markwood Heavenly Strings & Cases, at booth 'B' ! :-)

Here are some shots of this harp under construction .

Here is a video of me playing  this new 12th century French Lyre! ;-)

I just completed this very special 10 string Lyre. It is designed to be a possible re-creation, of a  12th century French /English Lyre that perhaps would have been played in the court of Henry II and Elanor of Aquatint. I built it to be played on stage during a semi-professional production of 'The Lion in Winter', at the Camelot Theater in Talent Oregon. It is built with 40 year air-dried Engelman Spruce and Black Walnut, with gold leaf work, painted decoration and crystal inlays.

These are photos of a re-created 7 string Viking Lyre I created for a client several years ago, using Oregon Myrtle wood and Engleman Spruce. There are inset amber 'eyes', in the stylized dragon heads carved on the top of the Lyre. The string tension is quite light, with three different string gauges used.

This is  the Olive  wood boards, with the tracings made for the Lyre, and then the cut out pieces all stacked up, that will become this custom 10 string Lyre.

Hebrew prayer, 'The Shamah', carved into both of the necks. Custom one of a kind King David Lyre, with 10 nylon strings.
